Galina Antipova's book "Not Such a Mayakovsky! Games of the Word-Creator" explores the playful nature of Vladimir Mayakovsky's creativity, which, as Boris Pasternak noted, manifested in his ability to "play everything at once... play with life." This encompassed the poet's well-known love for gambling, as well as the changing masks of his lyrical hero. However, the most significant game for Mayakovsky was with words, captured in numerous impromptu verses, dedicatory inscriptions, and answers to public questions. These expressions of his creative spirit, along with "graphic impromptu" from his notebooks, including self-caricatures and zoomorphic self-portraits, are presented as an independent form of his art. Prepared for the poet's 130th birthday, the edition also features Mayakovsky's brochure "How to Make Poetry" and selected poems about poetry.
