Olga Gromova's book "Sugar Child" is based on the words of Stella Nudolskaya, whose childhood took place in the late 1930s - early 1940s in the Soviet Union. This is a personal account of how five-year-old Ela suddenly finds herself the daughter of an "enemy of the people" and ends up in a terrible world: after her father's arrest, they are sent to a camp. But despite all the trials, Ela and her mother do not lose heart, read poetry and take care of each other.
